Hampstead is a very
pretty Georgian village, north of London - about 15 mins from the
centre on the Northern Line. Apart from the beautiful houses of
the rich merchants who used to live there (a whole street of them
beautifully preserved in Church Row), there's the Heath, a vast
expanse of wilderness that gives great views over London from
Parliament Hill. It's a playground of the rich so eating there can
be a little expensive, though there are plenty of nice hostelries.
Keats' house, Fenton House and Kenwood House are the main
historical attractions. The Goldfinger house is also nearby (see
our Historic page).
